Purpose and Impact:

Deliver assessments and provide individual, family, and group counseling to clients within a residential environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct individual crisis counseling sessions.
  • Perform intake assessments, psychosocial evaluations, and suicide risk assessments.
  • Facilitate family orientations, assessments, counseling, and reunification processes.
  • Offer aftercare counseling services to former residents and their families.
  • Provide rotating on-call support as necessary.
  • Lead group counseling activities and social skills training.
  • Manage cases, intervene in crises, and respond to telephone inquiries for crisis referrals.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks as required.
  • Set goals and objectives for individual and group programs.
  • Provide in-home crisis counseling for family mediation when needed.
  • Advocate for clients with community organizations, judicial systems, educational institutions, and more.
  • Engage in community outreach initiatives.
  • Offer house coverage during emergencies.
  • Be available for travel as required.
  • Participate in and facilitate professional training for staff.
  • Supervise Youth Care Services staff and provide emergency house coverage as needed.
  • Act as an Educational Liaison.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to drive, use a phone, sit for extended periods, write case notes, and manage filing tasks.

EDUCATION:

  • Master's degree in human services or a related field.
  • Other qualifications as may be mandated by the funding source.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in adolescent and family counseling, leading group sessions, and conducting intake and psychosocial/risk assessments. Experience working with at-risk youth and their families is essential.

SKILLS:

  • Must possess strong organizational skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with others, excellent communication skills, and be a reliable team player.

OTHER:

  • Must demonstrate cultural sensitivity and awareness of the socioeconomic characteristics and needs of the service population.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Reports directly to the Clinical Director.
  • Collaborates effectively with colleagues and administrators.
  • Ensures accurate, complete, and timely documentation of client cases.
  • Submits required statistical reports accurately and promptly.
  • Adheres to all licensing and quality assurance standards.
  • Acts as a clinical liaison to the Department of Juvenile Justice, courts, schools, and community service providers.
  • Complies with Agency policies and procedures.
  • Attends all mandatory training sessions.
