Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team at Dairy Farmers of America. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering the end-to-end payroll operations, including data entry, payroll processing, tax compliance, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process payroll for employees on various cycles, including monthly, semi-monthly, bi-weekly, and weekly
  • Administer payroll operations, including data entry, payroll processing, tax compliance, and reporting
  • Compile, input, audit, and verify additional data for inclusion in the final payroll
  • Assist with tax account setup and amendments, and resolve payroll tax issues
  • Answer high-volume questions relating to salary, paychecks, and other payroll information
  • Assist payroll coordinators at field locations and problem-solve to achieve resolutions regarding payroll issues
  • Work closely with human resources representatives regarding inquiries, issues, and procedures affecting payroll
  • Assist in testing payroll-related system enhancements, improvements, integrations, or conversions
  • Maintain and safeguard accurate payroll records, ensuring compliance with record-keeping requirements
  • Follow internal controls to prevent fraud or errors in payroll processing
  • Generate and distribute various payroll reports as needed
  • Assist with internal or external audits
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and year-end tasks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Support merger and acquisition activities as required, and assist with setup of payroll-related systems
  • Collaborate with project managers and team members to assist in various projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of progressive payroll experience for a large company, especially in a multi-state environment
  • 1-3 years of ADP Enterprise experience
  • Certification and/or license - Fundamental Payroll Certification preferred
  • Solid knowledge of standard payroll concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, analytical, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and often changing environment
  • Able to identify and handle priority and/or sensitive issues with discretion and a commitment to confidentiality
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
  • Able to take initiative and set priorities without close supervision and follow clearly defined procedures
  • Able to apply a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to be flexible, prioritize, and manage multiple assignments with competing deadlines
  • Able to respond courteously and efficiently to inquiries, complaints, and requests
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to follow through on day-to-day responsibilities
  • Able to interact positively and work effectively and professionally with others
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
