Job Description:

The Controller is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Controller is also responsible for cash management and risk management, tax planning with an outside tax accountant, and paying estimated taxes for all LLC's.

Key Responsibilities:

**Management**

1. Develop and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.

2. Manage outsourced functions to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

3. Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.

4. Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations or affiliated companies, ensuring control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures are in place.

5. Lead a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and training to optimize work performance and efficiency.

**Transactions**

1. Ensure timely payment of accounts payable and collection of accounts receivable.

2. Process payroll in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

3. Maintain an orderly accounting filing system and ensure periodic bank reconciliations are completed on a regular basis.

4. Manage debt payments and maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.

5. Oversee the management of time and labor systems.

**Reporting**

1. Issue timely and complete financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP.

2. Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

3. Develop and implement benchmarks to measure the performance of company operations.

4. Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics, providing insights for business decisions.

5. Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

**Compliance**

1. Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

2. Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.

3. Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.

4. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government registrations, reporting requirements, and tax filings.

Requirements:

What We Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience for a major government contracting company or division of a large government contractor corporation
  • DCAA & GAAP experience.
  • Deltek Costpoint and QuickBooks experience.
  • Active CPA license a must.
