Overview:
In this role, you will apply advanced technical skills in transportation engineering to manage and execute intricate infrastructure projects. Your focus will be on developing sustainable transportation solutions that enhance community livability by alleviating traffic congestion, promoting diverse transportation modes, supporting land development, and improving safety for all users.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Guidance

  • Receive overarching guidance on primary objectives for project execution, with the flexibility to seek direction on complex tasks and innovative methodologies. Your work will be evaluated by senior staff to ensure adherence to professional standards and sound judgment. You will also oversee the quality of work produced by junior engineers.
  • Take on a leadership role in providing technical direction to less experienced engineers, offering mentorship and delegating tasks effectively.

Operational Engagement:

  • Collaborate closely with senior team members to gain insights into transportation engineering and planning initiatives.
  • Support the marketing efforts of the firm to attract new clients and strengthen existing relationships.
  • Coordinate with various disciplines and internal teams as necessary.

Project Execution:

  • Work collaboratively with project teams on specialized transportation assignments.
  • Prepare visual aids and documentation for public and client meetings, conduct data analysis, perform field reviews, and engage in research on industry trends and best practices.
  • Draft engineering plans and comprehensive reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant applications and related funding services.
  • Participate in construction-related tasks and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Ensure accurate project tracking and monitor progress against technical specifications and timelines.
  • Deliver technical presentations to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain organized project files and adhere to established quality assurance and control procedures.
  • Guide and mentor junior staff in their professional development.
  • Lead analyses and design efforts for various engineering projects, including roadway design, multimodal projects, and safety initiatives.

  • Proficient in managing multiple time-sensitive projects.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including technical writing and public speaking.
  • Experience in preparing construction plans for roadway or traffic projects.

  • High degree of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
  • Proactive problem-solving attitude and strong work ethic.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to draw valid conclusions from data.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline.
  • Completion of coursework in transportation engineering and/or highway design is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant professional engineering experience.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (EIT) is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration or eligibility to obtain within six months is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with engineering design software such as MicroStation or AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation standards and practices.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Primarily an indoor office setting with occasional outdoor work.
  • Frequent use of standard office equipment.
  • Mobility around job sites may require physical activity.
  • Local travel may be necessary for project needs.
