We engage with various entities on a multitude of projects, providing consultation on technology application, design strategies for electrical and mechanical systems, public health systems, and assistance with equipment procurement and construction phase services.

We are currently seeking local candidates in the South Florida region.

Job Overview

The role involves electrical engineering design for commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential power distribution, lighting systems, renewable energy solutions, fire detection systems, and low voltage systems for data, communications, and access controls. The selected candidate will provide technical expertise and oversee all electrical-related building services projects, including the design, supply, and installation of emergency generators and transfer switching, UPS systems, and building automation control systems. Coordination with other engineers, mechanical, structural, and interior designers, as well as architects, project managers, specialist designers, and building owners, will be essential.

The candidate will be responsible for developing and managing electrical projects from initial design through permitting, preparation of bid documentation, budgeting, and providing contract administration services during construction and commissioning phases.

The role requires a significant contribution to the design, specification preparation, administrative functions, or field engineering related to assigned engineering projects under the guidance of a professional engineer. Proficiency in various design software tools necessary for executing design and engineering tasks is expected. A solid understanding of both basic and complex issues associated with developing construction documentation for the assigned project is also required.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design of complex engineered systems. Responsibilities include:

  • Creating high-quality electrical construction documents, encompassing drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Delivering quality work that fosters client retention.
  • Conducting site surveys of existing system conditions to ensure compatibility with new designs.
  • Designing electrical systems, including low/medium voltage power distribution, standby/emergency generators, and lighting for buildings, as well as local area IT networks, access control, security, and fire alarm systems. This includes developing reports and design documents such as electrical floor plans, equipment schematic diagrams, load calculations, short circuit studies, and arc flash studies.
  • Reviewing electrical documents for conflicts with all building systems.
  • Maintaining close coordination with clients and the entire design team to ensure the design aligns with the client's vision and standards, and that the design schedule is adhered to.
  • Monitoring project construction activities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications, which may involve acting as Resident Engineer on smaller projects, interpreting plans, and ensuring all project design requirements are met.
  • Serving as a project engineer or project manager on assigned projects.
  • Facilitating efficient information flow and ensuring thorough record keeping.
  • Familiarizing oneself with the Client/Company's drawing system and design and construction standards, as well as applicable industry codes and practices.
  • Preparing and/or overseeing complex construction schedules to ensure timely project completion.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited university. An Electrical Professional Engineer's license is preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in engineering related projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry and national codes and standards, including NEC, Life Safety Code NFPA 101, NFPA 70/70E, IEEE, and International Building Code.
  • Experience with system design software, CADD, and Microsoft Office products is essential. Strong analytical and management skills are required.
  • Willingness to travel for site surveys and project meetings.
