Position Summary:

Implement intricate technical transportation engineering methodologies, standards, and criteria for infrastructure initiatives. Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Guidance

  • Receive overarching instructions on primary objectives for execution.   • Coordinate with various disciplines and internal services/groups as needed.

Execution of Duties

  • Work collaboratively with the project team on specialized transportation initiatives.
  • Develop maps and graphics for stakeholder and client meetings, conduct data analysis, perform field reviews and data collection, research trends and best practices, contribute to public engagement efforts, devise solutions to complex challenges, and present recommendations.
  • Prepare engineering documentation and reports.
  • Assist in drafting grant applications and related services for funding programs.
  • Participate in construction-related tasks.
  • Draft correspondence, meeting notes, proposals, and other necessary documentation.
  • Prepare reports, plans, specifications, construction timelines, cost estimates, permits, and designs for projects.
  • Coordinate and conduct field visits, ensuring accurate data collection and observations.
  • Direct project tasks and monitor progress for technical accuracy and adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Deliver internal and external technical presentations.
  • Ensure technical quality control across multiple assigned projects.
  • Facilitate communication with clients and external agencies, attending project and public meetings.
  • Maintain organized and accurate project files.
  • Adhere to established company goals, standard operating procedures, and quality assurance/control protocols, assisting in the review of technical work produced by other staff.
  • Guide and mentor junior personnel.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline is required.
  • Completion of coursework in transportation engineering and/or highway design is preferred.
  • Three or more years of professional engineering experience with a focus on transportation engineering or a related field.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (EIT) is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Registration or eligibility to obtain within six months is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Valid state driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle check or reliable transportation is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, or other engineering design software.
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) standards, permitting processes, and industry practices.
  • Understanding of Federal and State ADA Standards and Guidelines.
  • Familiarity with construction practices.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Primarily an indoor office environment with varying light, noise, and other conditions.
  • Mobility within an office setting.
  • Frequent use of standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
  • Occasional outdoor work in various weather conditions.
  • Mobility around job sites, including walking, bending, and wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
