We are seeking a highly skilled Paralegal / Legal Assistant II to support the US Attorney's Office in their asset forfeiture efforts. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in helping us deliver unsurpassed services in support of law enforcement and homeland security.
Key Responsibilities- Case Preparation: Assist attorneys in reviewing case material, gathering and analyzing evidence, and preparing digests of selected decisions and opinions.
- Document Preparation: Draft, edit, and review non-legal information, create correspondence, and research reports.
- Trial Support: Help prepare for trial by organizing exhibits, creating statistical charts, and photographing evidence.
- Witness Interviews: Conduct interviews with potential witnesses and prepare summary interview reports.
- Document Review: Review prepared legal documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Pre-Trial Meetings: Attend pre-trial meetings to review case materials and identify potential issues.
- Testimony Summaries: Prepare summaries of testimony and depositions.
- Research and Investigation: Investigate facts and laws of cases, search public records, and prepare cases for trial.
- Education and Experience: Paralegal Certificate or High School Diploma/GED with at least two years of paralegal experience.
- Skills and Qualifications: Trial and automated litigation support experience preferred, ability to grasp and understand the organization and functions of the customer, knowledge of basic legal research, excellent communication skills, strong organizational and prioritization skills, experience with Microsoft Office suite and other common software applications.
