GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

To foster and enhance a collaborative relationship among associates, customers, and donors, ultimately boosting the profitability of Goodwill Industries.

To build and maintain positive connections with clients and team members to effectively deliver Goodwill's mission services.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the store management in developing and operating the assigned store to optimize retail market share and donations while adhering to the annual operating budget.
  2. Work under the guidance of the Retail Store Manager to gain comprehensive knowledge of retail store operations.
  3. Upon successful completion of Management Training, assume managerial responsibilities during holidays, sick leave, etc., acting as the manager in their absence after a thirty-day training period.
  4. Supervise associates and clients in daily retail operations in the manager's absence, while also facilitating cross-training for associates in various responsibilities.
  5. Accurately operate the cash register, which includes validating payment methods (e.g., cash, check, money orders, gift certificates, or credit card transactions), reconciling register tapes, and balancing cash drawers.
  6. Maintain monthly inventory records, perform daily bank deposits, create weekly schedules, reconcile daily sales receipts, and prepare daily reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  7. Oversee merchandising displays and coordinate promotional sales activities to ensure production goals are met to benefit the location.
  8. Process, stock, merchandise, color code, size, tag, and date items appropriately.
  9. Perform and delegate general housekeeping, custodial, and janitorial tasks as scheduled and assigned.
  10. Participate in all training sessions and scheduled managers' meetings.
  11. Ensure compliance with established Goodwill policies and procedures.
  12. Provide assistance at other locations as required.
  13. Collaborate with the entire store team to maximize the growth potential of the location.
  14. Adhere to all attendance policies and loss prevention procedures.
  15. Carry out any additional duties as assigned.
Responsible to: Retail Store Manager

Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Work Experience: Two to three years of retail experience or relevant field experience is highly preferred. Strong management skills in planning, organizing, scheduling, directing, merchandising, training, recruiting, and customer service are essential. A valid Driver's License is highly preferred and may be required in specific situations.

Physical Requirements: Daily tasks may include climbing, balancing, reaching, talking, hearing, seeing, standing, stooping, kneeling, handling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. Exposure to dust and odors may occur, and limited outdoor work may be required.

Safety & Security: Responsible for adhering to all safety, security, and money handling protocols as outlined by Goodwill policy.

Work Hours: As assigned by store location, with flexibility to meet the evolving needs of the store and cover absences.

Work Attire: Each associate is expected to maintain a fashionable, neat, and clean appearance that reflects Goodwill's positive image in the community. Compliance with the dress code, including wearing the required name badge visibly at all times, is mandatory.
