Job Summary

Gentex Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our purchasing department, you will be responsible for directing and planning the procurement of materials, parts, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the purchasing process from start to finish, ensuring timely delivery and quality merchandise.
  • Handle requisitions for maintenance repair and operating items (MRO) throughout the plant, negotiating the best prices and delivery terms.
  • Enter purchase orders in the system, distribute copies to relevant departments, and file all orders and corresponding paperwork.
  • Check receivers against purchase orders to ensure accurate receipt of items.
  • Handle all return-to-vendor (RTV) shipping paperwork.
  • Maintain daily and weekly models for purchasing parts for assigned divisions.
  • Provide analysis of inventory levels and accounts as needed.
  • Maintain communication with vendors regarding production schedules.
  • Communicate inconsistencies in fulfillment to management in a timely manner.
  • Analyze possible shortages and suggest alternatives.
  • Negotiate cost reductions with suppliers.
  • Foster continuous improvement and demonstrate good business judgment.
Requirements
  • A.A. degree in business or a minimum of two years of experience in procurement.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Ability to express oneself clearly in verbal and written form and interface with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to handle multiple programs and tasks simultaneously and efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a comprehensive team environment.
Working Conditions

The Procurement Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment, occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

The individual must have a high level of comprehension and a high level of general, verbal, written, and numerical intelligence.
