Job Summary

Erie Construction Mid-West Inc. is seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Payroll Manager to join our Human Resources team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire payroll process, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and providing exceptional support to our employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage weekly payroll processing, schedules, bonuses, benefits administration, payroll taxes, and facility-level benefits and/or payroll issues.
  • Act as the subject matter expert and guide employees through various payroll requirements and processes.
  • Serve as the point of contact for all payroll-tax related inquiries and escalations.
  • Drive process improvements within the payroll department while supporting the business.
Requirements
  • Prepare and process full-cycle, weekly, multi-state and multi-country payroll while maintaining payroll compliance at all regulatory levels.
  • Work closely with functional departments and finance regarding proper calculation and reconciliation of incentive payments, including commissions, overtime, bonuses, etc.
  • Ensure full compliance across all plans with applicable federal, state, and local regulations concerning taxes.
  • Assist with non-discrimination testing, Form 5500s, plan audits, ACA filings, workplace compliance requirements, and all plan-related compliance and filings.
  • Manage process and register for state and local payroll tax jurisdictions based on company growth.
  • Responsible for preparation of W-2/government forms and year-end reporting.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding payroll inquiries and identify resolutions as needed.
  • Assist with the development of compensation programs and the associated annual salary planning process.
  • Understand benefit plan administration and its impact on payroll.
  • Lead a payroll team to streamline the process and build standard practices, audits, and ensure accuracy.
  • Have an understanding of the impact from payroll to the general ledger and assist with the finance team to find payroll items.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 8+ years of experience administering multi-state payroll and managing processes.
  • Familiarity with compensation best practices and standards.
  • 5+ years' experience in team leadership and management.
  • Ability to logically connect ideas, scrutinize and evaluate arguments, find inconsistencies and errors in work, solve complex problems, and engage in reflection.
  • Proficiency in HRIS Systems and using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and/or Access).
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and/or HR certification preferred – SHRM-CP or PHR.
