Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accounting Specialist to join our team at the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting, payroll, and benefits administration tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable: Process and reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable activity, including posting transactions to our accounting system and reconciling the general ledger to subsidiary ledgers.
  2. Grant Invoicing and Administration: Prepare grant invoicing and supporting documentation, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  3. Bank and Investment Account Reconciliations: Prepare and reconcile bank and investment account statements, including making corresponding general ledger entries.
  4. Operating Bank Account Reconciliation: Reconcile the operating bank account to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  5. Monthly Closing Journal Entries: Assist with the preparation of monthly closing journal entries, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  6. Payroll and Benefits Administration: Process payroll and reconcile to the general ledger and benefit detail, maintaining accurate employee benefit records.
  7. Chamber Foundation Transactional Data: Process Chamber Foundation transactional data, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
  8. Fixed Asset Records: Maintain fixed asset records, reconcile to the general ledger, and prepare annual audit schedules.
  9. Sales Tax and Workers Compensation Returns: Prepare sales tax and workers compensation returns and schedules, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  10. Software Support and Training: Assist Chamber staff with understanding how to use our accounting and software systems, providing training and support as needed.
  11. Independent Financial Audit: Assist with the independent financial audit by providing necessary information and support.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Experience: Grant financial management experience is helpful but not required. Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software is also helpful but not required.
  • Skills: Well-organized and accurate, proficient in Microsoft Office software, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
