Position Purpose: The Food & Beverage Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the restaurant and bar operations, ensuring compliance with hotel and brand standards while adhering to budgetary constraints and legal regulations, particularly concerning liquor laws.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure timely and efficient service of meals, snacks, functions, and beverages to meet established standards.
  2. Maintain profit margins and control costs through effective management systems, including sales analysis and menu pricing.
  3. Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the restaurant and bar, with impeccable table settings and decor.
  4. Supervise food and beverage staff to ensure they are professionally attired and provide courteous service.
  5. Maintain stock levels and cleanliness in the bar and restaurant areas.
  6. Train bartenders to deliver professional and friendly service.
  7. Oversee room service operations to ensure prompt and standard-compliant delivery.
  8. Ensure room service staff are well-presented and provide excellent customer service.
  9. Act as Manager on Duty when required.
  10. Manage inventory of consumable and non-consumable goods, ensuring proper storage and distribution.
  11. Implement security measures in all controlled areas and ensure staff awareness of key security protocols.
  12. Monitor staffing levels to ensure compliance with agreed standards.
  13. Uphold company and statutory hygiene standards across all operations.
  14. Address customer complaints promptly and effectively.
  15. Submit reports and administrative documents in a timely manner.
  16. Conduct regular performance reviews with management staff, identifying training needs and development opportunities.
  17. Ensure staff are trained in emergency evacuation procedures.
  18. Stay informed about all statutory requirements related to food and beverage operations, ensuring timely application for necessary licenses.
  19. Conduct regular inventory audits.
  20. Prepare and submit accurate budgeting information in the required format.
  21. Maintain a visible presence in the restaurant and bar to engage with customers and staff.
  22. Facilitate regular staff training sessions.
  23. Stay updated on industry trends and propose improvements for food and beverage operations.
  24. Attend meetings as necessary.
  25. Ensure ongoing on-the-job training meets established standards.
  26. Promote internal advancement by appointing the most qualified candidates for vacancies.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret business records and statistical reports.
  • Familiarity with Micros (POS) System.
  • Mathematical skills for financial analysis and budget preparation.
  • Understanding of government regulations affecting business operations.
  • Ability to make informed business decisions based on production reports and personal experience.
  • Strong communication skills for dealing with the public, customers, and staff.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Adaptability to frequent changes and interruptions.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to take full responsibility for operational management.
  • Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands: The role may require occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects weighing up to 30lbs, along with significant walking or standing, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.

Environmental Conditions: The position is primarily indoors, providing protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature fluctuations.

Mathematical Skills: Requires sufficient mathematical development to handle real numbers, algebraic equations, and statistical analysis.

Language Skills: Must possess developed language skills to read, write, and engage in discussions effectively.
