Cobble Hill LifeCare is a distinguished not-for-profit facility dedicated to providing exceptional care for the elderly and disabled for over four decades. The Culinary Services Supervisor is a vital contributor to our mission: to consistently surpass expectations and establish benchmarks for excellence in both residential and community care.
In the role of Culinary Services Supervisor, you will oversee the operations during the evening shift. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring that dietary aides complete their tasks efficiently, cooks adhere to the meal preparation timeline, and that evening meals are prepared in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, as well as our established policies and procedures. Reporting directly to the Director of Dietary, you will collaborate with cooks and kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared according to established recipes and timelines, while also providing input on menu planning and recipe development.
Shift Details: Full-Time (5 days/week)
Working Hours: 12pm-8pm with rotating weekends

Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise kitchen operations and meal preparations in alignment with the planned menu and standardized recipes.
- Delegate responsibilities to kitchen staff regarding meal preparation.
- Consult with the Chef, Director, and team members to ensure all food preparation tasks are completed accurately, including resident requests and compliance with dietary restrictions.
- Conduct quality checks on prepared food for temperature, appearance, and taste.
- Participate in management meetings and contribute to team discussions.
- Facilitate in-service training sessions for kitchen staff.
- Collect and document relevant data, such as food temperatures and special dietary needs.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in storage areas and food handling practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chef or Food Service Director to ensure optimal resident care and departmental efficiency.
- Assume responsibility and accountability in the absence of the Chef and Sous Chef.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of experience working alongside a Chef in an accredited culinary institution.
- Food Handlers certification is required; ServSafe certification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment used in food preparation.
- Proficient in reading, understanding, and communicating in English.
- Ability to follow recipes and production sheets, with skills in adjusting recipes and portion sizes.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets, portion control, and dietary practices.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
