Position: Peer Support Specialist

Key Responsibilities: The Peer Support Specialist is an entry-level position aimed at delivering peer support services under the direct supervision of a licensed mental health professional. This role involves assisting and supporting individuals in mobile crisis situations as part of our Mobile Response Program. The Peer Support Specialist will engage in various activities to aid individuals seeking recovery from substance use disorders, mental health challenges, or both. Responsibilities may include mentoring, advocating for those in recovery, and building supportive relationships.

Peer Support Role: The Crestwood Behavioral Health Mobile Response Team (MRT) offers community-based interventions for individuals facing mental health crises. Our team is equipped to deploy into the community to provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, and stabilization services. The MRT comprises Licensed/Registered Mental Health Counselors and Peer Support Specialists who deliver services throughout the community, including residences, parks, shelters, schools, and healthcare facilities. The primary objective of the MRT is to de-escalate crises and safely connect individuals with mental health care and resources.

Work Schedule: On Call (12 Hour Shifts)

Qualifications:

  • Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist (CMPSS) is highly preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Experience working with individuals with neurological disorders and mental health issues is preferred.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Familiarity with DBT, WRAP, and Psychosocial Rehabilitation Principles is preferred.
  • Understanding of DMH Title 9 and other relevant regulations.
  • Valid California Driver's License.
