Job Summary

We are seeking an Instructional Support Specialist to assist teachers in the care and supervision of at-risk students in a classroom or related facility. The successful candidate will maintain and prepare classroom materials, attendance records, and student files. They will also provide instructional assistance to individuals or small groups of middle school and high school students.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and prepare classroom materials, attendance records, and student files
  • Provide instructional assistance to individuals or small groups of students
  • Assist teachers in the care and supervision of at-risk students
  • Develop and implement instructional plans to support student learning
  • Communicate with teachers, students, and parents to ensure student success
Requirements
  • Equivalent of a high school diploma plus experience working with students in a classroom or equivalent environment
  • Successful completion of a rigorous competency exam or 48 college credit hours
  • Basic knowledge of child development and guidance principles
  • Working knowledge of basic subjects taught in schools
  • Basic knowledge of teaching and instruction methods
  • Knowledge of basic clerical and record-keeping processes
  • Ability to work productively and cooperatively with teachers, students, and parents
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
  • First Aid and CPR certification
