Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Associate to join our interdisciplinary team at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research on the effects of hydropower operations on fish passage and survival in the Pacific Northwest region.

Responsibilities
  • Deploy, retrieve, maintain, and test acoustic and radio telemetry equipment
  • Tag or assist with surgical implantation of transmitters in fish
  • Transport and release of live tagged fish according to a detailed time schedule
  • Conduct fieldwork, data collection, data analysis, and report writing
  • Assist with laboratory studies handling fish, conducting necropsies, and maintaining fish populations in aquaculture facilities
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in fisheries, environmental sciences, or a biology-related field within the last two years
  • Strong written and presentation skills for diverse audiences
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge of telemetry study design and array maintenance
  • Experience handling and tagging live fish
  • Experience with fieldwork and data analysis
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with long hours, inclement weather, and industrial hydroelectric projects. US Citizenship is required due to business needs and client space.
