Position Summary

This individual contributor role reports directly to the Controller and supports the business segments of National Guard Employment Network. The selected candidate will engage in various assignments and analyses related to specialized accounting projects, some of which may be intricate.


Involvement in these projects typically includes formulating recommended accounting positions for current or proposed transactions, reviewing new or modified contracts, advising on business development initiatives, and assessing and implementing new accounting standards.

This role frequently interacts with colleagues both within and outside the accounting department and may offer guidance, including functional advice and training to less experienced accountants.

In addition to special projects, this role is responsible for executing certain monthly and quarterly tasks, which may include but are not limited to:


Coordinating the review and compilation of comments on quarterly and annual SEC filings, along with accompanying disclosure and control checklist submissions.

Monitoring the status and completeness of the Controller group's SOX control procedures.
Facilitating periodic update meetings with other accounting teams on current issues.
Conducting peer reviews of account reconciliations and journal entries.
Performing other duties as assigned.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
6+ years of accounting experience; or 5 years of public accounting experience

(Note:

A Master's degree will count as one year towards the experience requirement. A partial year of six months or more of experience will be rounded up to one year.)

Specific knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience include:


Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal) regarding complex accounting and business concepts to diverse audiences within the organization, including peers, management, and auditors.

Must be a proactive self-starter capable of independent problem-solving, providing solutions, and managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred; comprehensive knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is essential, and familiarity with FERC Uniform System of Accounts is advantageous.
Customer-service oriented with the ability to contribute innovative ideas and see those changes through to implementation.

A degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor
