Lead Transmission Engineer

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Lead Transmission Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our electric transmission design team, you will be responsible for leading the design of multiple projects, from small quick-turnaround to large complex transmission lines.
This role offers the opportunity to apply your leadership experience and knowledge of transmission lines to ensure the successful execution of a wide range of projects. You will guide junior engineers in the application of industry standards, such as NESC, NEC, and ASCE, and conduct reviews of plans and specifications, material lists, and construction documents.
As a Lead Engineer, you will serve as a liaison between the T&D Engineering group and other stakeholders, including project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management. You will also be responsible for managing the engineering aspects of multiple projects, developing project schedules, and defining technical staff for projects and daily work.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead technical staff in the preparation of utility engineering designs, cost estimates, and customer billing.
- Manage the engineering aspects of multiple projects, from 34.5kV to 500kV.
- Develop project schedules and define technical staff for projects and daily work.
- Assist in the development of technical staff through mentoring, instructing of technical engineering principles, and governing electrical and safety codes.
- Provide guidance and direction for professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate internal/external reviews of designs completed prior to submissions.
- Collaborate with department managers to develop, evaluate, and implement new policies and procedures that reflect best engineering practices.
- Maintain great relationships with existing clients and seek out opportunities with potential future clients.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- Active PE licensure.
- 5+ years of experience in Power Transmission Design.
- Professional disposition and the ability to be open-minded when it comes to planning and execution of projects.
- Ability to effectively supervise a project team of Engineers & Engineering Technicians while maintaining work product quality, consistency, accuracy, and reliability.
- Advanced knowledge of overhead & underground Transmission facilities and understanding of its integration into daily activities.
- Experience with NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and other industry-relevant standards.
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD, MFAD, AutoCAD, and other industry software.
- Proficiency in MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project).
