Substation Engineer - P&C Job Description

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Substation Engineer - P&C to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-voltage substation projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, potential and current schematics, control schematics, alarm schematics, and communications schematics
  • Develop protection and control specifications, I/O mapping, and relay settings
  • Collaborate with internal and external project stakeholders to ensure project milestones and expectations are met
  • Work seamlessly with P&C designers to develop schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Coordinate efforts with other design disciplines, such as transmission line engineers, distribution line engineers, and telecom engineers
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized accredited program
  • EIT Certification
  • Minimum 4 years of related work experience in high-voltage substation design - P&C
  • Proficient in use of AutoCAD or Bentley Microstation
  • Strong familiarity with NEC and National Electrical Safety Code
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional engineering license or ability to obtain one within 2 years of hire
  • Experience in developing relay settings and protection device coordination
  • Proficient in use of ASPEN One Liner, CYME Dist, or similar programs
  • Knowledge of construction practices and constructability
