Senior Transmission Engineer

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Transmission Engineer to enhance their engineering team. The successful candidate will take charge of designing and supervising a variety of transmission line initiatives, which can range from minor projects to extensive undertakings. This role provides the chance to leverage expertise in transmission lines to develop projects that cover voltage levels from 34.5kV to 500kV. The Senior Engineer will collaborate with a dedicated team to implement industry standards while also managing engineering responsibilities independently, from initial design through to construction phases. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design overhead transmission line projects operating at high voltage
  • Plan and develop transmission lines, addressing right-of-way needs and conducting structural evaluations
  • Prepare bidding documentation and support the bidding process
  • Review engineering documents and provide technical assistance during the construction phase
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers in the field of transmission line design
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and project management activities
  • Serve as a technical authority in the design of overhead transmission lines

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Transmission Line Engineer
  • EIT Certification with the capability to obtain PE certification in the near future
  • Proficient in MS Office and Power Line Systems Software
  • Strong communication skills and a solid understanding of project management principles

Desirable Experience:

  • Possession of a Professional Engineering License in the United States
  • Experience in project management
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage several project commitments simultaneously
