Position Overview:

ABOUT THE ROLE

VHB is actively seeking a Geomatics Survey Team Leader to enhance our Survey division. We welcome candidates from various locations who are open to relocation and possess the necessary expertise. The projects will primarily focus on sectors such as transportation, energy, and land development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the geomatics/survey team members.
  • Direct and manage geomatics personnel to ensure adherence to project budgets and timelines.
  • Develop workflow strategies to execute diverse geomatics projects as per provided guidelines.
  • Oversee field survey operations, including boundary, topographic, control, construction, and reality capture surveys.
  • Conduct analysis and interpretation of public records relevant to the projects.
  • Supervise the use of data collection technologies, including manual and robotic total stations, GPS instruments, and reality capture tools.
  • Ensure precise measurement and layout of land surfaces.
  • Maintain equipment and vehicles in optimal condition.
  • Engage with the public as necessary.
  • Document all project phases through comprehensive field notes and reports.

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • Extensive experience and knowledge in operating surveying equipment, including GPS and total stations.
  • Familiarity with various survey and reality capture software.
  • Strong foundation in geomatics mathematics and data collection methodologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a geomatics land surveying team leader.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A degree in Geomatics, Survey Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil3D is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with Microstation, Inroads, and OpenRoads is a plus.
  • Experience with Leica survey equipment is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is beneficial.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs.
