Medical Care Specialist

We are seeking a Medical Care Specialist to join our team at GEO Corrections & Detentions. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will play a vital part in providing the highest level of care to inmates/detainees while maintaining a safe and secure workplace.
ResponsibilitiesWorking alongside our Registered Nurse (RN), you'll develop nursing care plans with guidance from the RN, perform complete physical assessments, provide nursing care within your capacity, refer other medical problems to the appropriate physician, administer medications as instructed, periodically evaluate patients' symptoms, reactions, and progress, and report problems to management.
You will also securely administer medication, take precautions against drug hoarding and trafficking, follow industry and company accreditation policies, document all detainee/inmate contacts, and maintain confidential medical records.
QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you must have a graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing, a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state where the facility is located, and two years of direct work experience preferred.
You must possess competence in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care, and have the ability to work without direct supervision in performing nursing diagnosis and provide appropriate follow-through treatment.
