Job Description:

This Medical Collections Specialist role is responsible for working closely with healthcare providers and patients to resolve outstanding balances while maintaining a high level of professionalism. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of medical billing processes, strong communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex medical records systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collection of payments from patients and insurance companies.
  • Review and analysis of patient accounts to identify outstanding balances.
  • Communication with patients regarding account balances, payment options, and discrepancies.
  • Collaboration with insurance companies to verify claims and follow up on unpaid claims.
  • Maintenance of detailed documentation of all collection activities and communications.

What You'll Need:

  • Proficiency in medical records systems and understanding of medical office workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, including familiarity with ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems.
  • Experience in medical coding and understanding of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to handle sensitive conversations professionally.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess accounts and identify collection opportunities effectively.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 per year
