Job Overview

Woodburn Nuclear Medicine & Metro Region PET is in search of a skilled PET/CT Imaging Specialist.

The ideal candidate will possess the qualifications necessary to conduct PET/CT scans and a comprehensive array of Nuclear Medicine examinations and procedures. Completion of an accredited technologist program and full vaccination status are required.

Position Summary

The PET/CT Imaging Specialist is tasked with operating PET/CT machinery to generate high-quality diagnostic images. This role involves administering radiopharmaceuticals and conducting scans to aid healthcare professionals in diagnosing and managing various medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Core Duties:
  • Execute PET/CT imaging procedures to support patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Administer prescribed radiopharmaceuticals and contrast agents.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging process.
  • Provide patients with clear instructions and information regarding their procedures.
  • Adhere to established safety protocols and perform routine maintenance on imaging equipment.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures and physician directives.
  • Equipment Management:
  • Operate and maintain PET/CT imaging systems.
  • Manage dose calibrators, well counters, and GM meters.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance checks and calibrations on equipment.
  • Identify and report any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Lift weights of 50-75 lbs as required.
  • Patient Engagement:
  • Welcome patients, explain the imaging process, and prepare them for their scans.
  • Address any patient inquiries and concerns regarding the imaging procedure.
  • Monitor patients for any adverse reactions during the imaging process.
  • Assist patients onto the imaging table and into the injection chair as needed.
  • Clinical Collaboration:
  • Work alongside radiologists and physicians to develop and assess imaging protocols.
  • Assist in scheduling patients to ensure an efficient workflow.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain precise patient records and imaging data.
  • Ensure accurate coding and billing for imaging services.
  • Regulatory Adherence:
  • Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations concerning radiologic health and safety.
  • Engage in ongoing education to remain updated with industry standards and advancements.
  • Qualifications:
  • Certification from ARRT or NMTCB.
  • State licensure as required.
  • Knowledgeable in cross-sectional anatomy, patient positioning, and imaging methodologies.
  • Skills and Attributes:

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Relationship Dynamics:

This position will receive training from the Team Lead, Manager, or other designated personnel, with ongoing support and supervision.
