Department Overview

Position Summary
The Information Technology Security Administrator plays a crucial role in managing and mitigating cybersecurity risks. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining citywide security compliance strategies and programs.

Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify suspicious activities and safeguard digital assets using various security tools, including malware protection, patch management, and vulnerability scanning.
- Collaborate with the IT Network Team to design and implement a resilient network environment, ensuring data security protocols are in place to prevent unauthorized access and data breaches.
- Develop and enforce policies related to network security, server access, and data protection measures.
- Analyze security logs to detect potential threats and facilitate penetration testing of digital assets.
- Monitor cybersecurity events and alert management of any emerging threats, recommending solutions to reduce risks.
- Conduct citywide security awareness training programs and document network data flows and access control procedures.

Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Six years of progressively responsible experience in implementing and managing IT security solutions in a high-availability environment.
- Familiarity with security monitoring tools and knowledge of common security frameworks and best practices is desirable.

Licenses and Certifications
- A valid California Class C driver license is required.
