Position Overview:


We are seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to support our high-performing accounting team. This role is integral to our financial reporting process, ensuring the preparation of accurate financial statements for executive management in a timely manner.

The Assistant Financial Controller will oversee financial reporting in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position requires attention to detail, a focus on accuracy, and a commitment to process improvement. Experience in construction accounting and percentage of completion methods is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:


- Ensure adherence to accounting policies and controls in alignment with GAAP.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Controller and CFO to manage the Accounting Department's operations.
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures, implementing controls to mitigate risks.
- Partner with operational teams to ensure proper accounting procedures are established and followed.
- Support the financial reporting process, ensuring timely and reliable reporting.
- Assist in establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls and policies.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger, managing monthly activities.

Core Duties:


- Oversee full-cycle accounting, including monthly close and balance sheet reconciliations (accruals, accounts receivable, accounts payable, etc.).
- Ensure timely completion of monthly closing entries and reconciliations.
- Conduct thorough analyses of balance sheet accounts and maintain monthly reconciliations.
- Perform daily maintenance and reconciliation of bank accounts, addressing discrepancies.
- Manage fixed asset schedules and reconcile property, plant, and equipment (PPE) monthly.
- Prepare and record month-end accruals and maintain recurring journal entries.
- Review indirect and SGA accounts for unusual activity and report findings.
- Coordinate with external tax preparers for compliance with federal and state tax obligations.
- Assist in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and financial statement preparation.
- Support internal and external audits as needed.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; solid knowledge of GAAP is essential.
- CPA certification preferred or in progress.
- 4-7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Familiarity with Sage 100 or Sage 300 accounting software is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Suite required.
- Experience with multi-site reporting and management is advantageous.
