About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager of Transaction Tax Audits to join our team at Verizon. As a key member of our tax function, you will be responsible for managing an inventory of sales/use and gross receipts tax audits of select Verizon entities and associated reserves.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective audit strategies to resolve tax audits favorably
  • Partner with other tax groups to ensure the Company resolves tax audits favorably
  • Work with Senior Manager to present audit impacts to upper management
  • Manage related accounting and demonstrate a high degree of data analytics skills
  • Calculate, establish, and monitor FAS 5 Reserves for Contingent Gains and Losses related to audits assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of relevant work experience
  • Five or more years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suites
  • Even better if you have one or more of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Analytics/Business Intelligence or related discipline
    • Experience with sales/use and gross receipts tax with a proven record of effectively dealing with transaction tax audits
    • Experience with digital automation and data visualization technology (e.g., Alteryx, QLIK)
    • An advanced degree in Law, Accounting, Taxation, Finance, Management Information Systems, or Computer Science
    • Experience in the sales/use and gross receipts tax field for Big 4 accounting firms and/or Fortune 500 corporate tax departments
    • Experience including advanced tax audit techniques (ex. sampling) and tax research analysis
    • Experience in the technology and/or telecommunications industry
    • Proficient knowledge in Enterprise Resource Planning such as SAP
    • A professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMI)
    • Experience as an auditor for a taxing authority
