Supply Chain Technician

Position Overview: The Supply Chain Technician reports directly to the Materials Manager and collaborates closely with Inventory Control Coordinators. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient replenishment, distribution, and assembly of medical supplies in accordance with established departmental protocols. The technician is committed to delivering outstanding customer service while maintaining optimal supply levels for internal stakeholders. Flexibility to work weekends and participate in holiday rotations is required.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Supply Management: Efficiently replenish, distribute, and assemble medical supplies and stock items by:
    • Verifying and checking the receipt of non-stock supplies ordered for designated areas.
    • Transporting inventory to designated locations based on replenishment scans and generated restock lists.
    • Completing stock requisitions and accurately pulling required stock to fulfill these requests.
    • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of over 2600 supplies within the Inventory Business Unit.
    • Ensuring timely replenishment by having a working knowledge of instrumentation.
    • Addressing issues and complaints by escalating them to the appropriate personnel after attempting resolution.
    • Reporting discrepancies in inventory counts to the Inventory Control Coordinator.
    • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
    • Upholding a positive customer service image at all times.
    • Exhibiting attention to detail when counting and scanning supplies.
    • Assisting with annual physical inventory and responding to customer inquiries.
  • Inventory Maintenance: Sustain adequate supply levels to meet internal customer needs by:
    • Identifying units of measure and shelving return stock appropriately.
    • Retrieving supplies from overstock and other necessary areas.
    • Rotating stock following FIFO inventory practices.
    • Monitoring for expired items in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Error Reporting: Document and report inventory errors by:
    • Timely reporting of discrepancies in inventory.
    • Listing issues on inventory documents for Coordinator review.
  • System Updates: Utilize inventory management systems to maintain accurate records by:
    • Locating inventory numbers, stock locations, and available quantities.
    • Communicating with Inventory Control Coordinators to update inventory levels.
    • Employing handheld devices for scanning and inventory management.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other functions to enhance personal competence and departmental effectiveness by:
    • Completing job-related tasks and projects as assigned.

  • Complete mandatory education and annual competencies within specified timeframes.
  • Maintain professional licenses and certifications in good standing.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
  • Be available for overtime and additional shifts as required.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred; candidates must be at least 17 years old.
  • Six months of experience in distribution or sterile processing is preferred.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Working knowledge of inventory systems and distribution fundamentals.
  • Basic computer skills for utilizing inventory management systems.
  • Interpersonal skills for effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
  • Verbal and written communication skills for accurate documentation.

Working Conditions: The role involves working in a distribution environment with potential exposure to various hazards.

Physical Demands: Candidates must possess the physical ability to perform essential functions, including lifting up to 40 pounds and remaining on their feet for extended periods.
