Overview:

The Patient Services Coordinator plays a vital role in delivering a comprehensive range of business, financial, and appointment-related services. This includes preparing for patient visits, managing patient arrivals and departures, handling payment processes, and ensuring a positive experience for every patient.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Foster and maintain positive relationships with patients and their families by providing timely and compassionate responses to inquiries and requests.
  2. Execute point-of-service tasks, including visit preparation, co-payment collection, patient tracking, and other assigned duties under supervision.
  3. Coordinate patient appointments and diagnostic testing in accordance with hospital protocols and resources.
  4. Oversee interactions with third-party payers and manage co-payment collections.
  5. Complete routine tasks and general office responsibilities, such as faxing, copying, filing, mailing, promptly returning phone calls, and distributing messages.
  6. Ensure that the front desk inventory is adequately maintained and communicate needs to the appropriate team members.
  7. Facilitate the smooth operation of the office by adjusting priorities based on workload and anticipating needs and deadlines.
  8. Maintain the overall appearance of the department, including cleanliness of the workspace and waiting area as necessary.
  9. Participate in clerical and administrative coverage efforts as required.
  10. Adhere to HIPAA compliance regulations.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Technical Skills:
  1. Preferred experience in a general office environment, performing clerical or administrative tasks.
  2. Preferred experience in a healthcare setting.
  3. Familiarity with computerized scheduling systems is preferred.
  4. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and staff, both over the phone and in person.
  6. Excellent organizational abilities to prioritize multiple tasks effectively. Basic math skills are necessary for processing insurance co-payments.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  1. Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  2. Certification: Not required.
  3. Relevant experience: Previous experience in clerical or administrative roles is preferred.
  4. Supervisory experience: Not applicable.
