Orthopedic Patient Services Coordinator

Overview:
The Patient Services Coordinator plays a vital role in delivering a comprehensive range of business, financial, and appointment-related services. This includes preparing for patient visits, managing patient arrivals and departures, handling payment processes, and ensuring a positive experience for every patient.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with patients and their families by providing timely and compassionate responses to inquiries and requests.
- Execute point-of-service tasks, including visit preparation, co-payment collection, patient tracking, and other assigned duties under supervision.
- Coordinate patient appointments and diagnostic testing in accordance with hospital protocols and resources.
- Oversee interactions with third-party payers and manage co-payment collections.
- Complete routine tasks and general office responsibilities, such as faxing, copying, filing, mailing, promptly returning phone calls, and distributing messages.
- Ensure that the front desk inventory is adequately maintained and communicate needs to the appropriate team members.
- Facilitate the smooth operation of the office by adjusting priorities based on workload and anticipating needs and deadlines.
- Maintain the overall appearance of the department, including cleanliness of the workspace and waiting area as necessary.
- Participate in clerical and administrative coverage efforts as required.
- Adhere to HIPAA compliance regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Preferred experience in a general office environment, performing clerical or administrative tasks.
- Preferred experience in a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with computerized scheduling systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and staff, both over the phone and in person.
- Excellent organizational abilities to prioritize multiple tasks effectively. Basic math skills are necessary for processing insurance co-payments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Certification: Not required.
- Relevant experience: Previous experience in clerical or administrative roles is preferred.
