Position Overview:
Surgical Instrument Processing Specialist | Central Processing Department | NYC

Exciting Opportunity at MSK:
We are seeking a Surgical Instrument Processing Specialist to become a vital part of our Central Processing Department.

In this capacity, you will play a crucial role in the decontamination of surgical instruments, rigid scopes, and equipment, ensuring the highest standards of sterility and safety for all patients at MSK.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Inspect and prepare surgical instruments and patient care equipment for thorough cleaning and decontamination.
2. Adhere to proper handwashing protocols in accordance with infection control policies, utilizing personal protective equipment during decontamination processes.
3. Employ the instrument management system for tracking, identifying, and documenting instruments throughout the tray assembly process.
4. Prioritize the assembly of trays and instruments to fulfill the requirements of supported areas.

5. Accurately document the distribution of trays and individual instruments during the case cart assembly and distribution process.

6. Perform manual documentation of tasks as necessary.

Essential Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid CPD Certification required
- Experience with Instrument Tracking Systems

Core Competencies:
- Demonstrated knowledge of key sterilization techniques and a commitment to compliance with Hospital Infection Control policies.
- Proficient in operating all high-level disinfection equipment (e.g., AER, TEE Probe Reprocessor, and GUS machines).
- Strong documentation skills and the ability to maintain an organized and sanitary workspace.

Additional Information:
Shifts: 8-hour shifts; Monday through Friday, with weekend and holiday rotation

Compensation Range:
$25.34-$38.16
