Position Overview: The Surgical Specimen Processing Specialist is responsible for executing the essential tasks associated with the preparation and analysis of surgical specimens.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conducts all standard procedures for the preparation and staining of surgical specimens.
  2. Handles frozen section preparations with precision.
  3. Implements special staining techniques and immunohistochemistry (IHC).
  4. Undertakes additional related responsibilities as necessary.

Essential Functions:

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Must possess a valid license from the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
  • A minimum of one (1) year of pertinent histology experience or training within the last five (5) years is required.

Alternatively:

  • Completion of a minimum of twelve (12) months in an accredited Histotechnology training program.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions are essential.
  • Demonstrated manual dexterity and physical coordination are required.
