Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled neurosurgeon to join our team as a faculty member at the Department of Neurosurgery at Augusta University's Medical College of Georgia. The ideal candidate will be board eligible or certified with a demonstrated ability to develop a strong academic skull base program. The surgeon will have a primary responsibility of expanding skull base neuro-oncology and will work in collaboration with other departments to further develop the multidisciplinary neuro-oncology program. The candidate will be expected to supervise medical students, neurosurgery residents and fellows. Exceptional teamwork, communication skills, program development, teaching and mentorship abilities are essential. This position does not require sufficient teaching, research, or service to be on a tenure track.

Responsibilities

• Teach in the Medical College of Georgia and/or the School of Graduate Studies and mentor graduate students.
• Establish a vigorous independent extramurally funded research program/s to complement research strengths and goals of DNRM and the University.
• Participate on various committees and provide public and professional service to the community and the department/college/University/USG.

Required Qualifications

A doctoral degree in Medicine or PhD in Biological Sciences. The candidate should have a strong academic background and a demonstrated ability to develop a strong academic skull base program. The surgeon should be board eligible or certified and have a primary responsibility of expanding skull base neuro-oncology. The candidate will be expected to supervise medical students, neurosurgery residents and fellows. Exceptional teamwork, communication skills, program development, teaching and mentorship abilities are essential. This position does not require sufficient teaching, research, or service to be on a tenure track.

Preferred Qualifications

Extramural funding and potential for its continuation. The candidate should have a broad range of capabilities including advanced skull base techniques. The surgeon will have a primary responsibility of expanding skull base neuro-oncology and will work in collaboration with other departments to further develop the multidisciplinary neuro-oncology program. The candidate will be expected to supervise medical students, neurosurgery residents and fellows. Exceptional teamwork, communication skills, program development, teaching and mentorship abilities are essential. This position does not require sufficient teaching, research, or service to be on a tenure track.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. The salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
