About the Role

The Washington State Department of Revenue is seeking a highly skilled Solution Architect to join our Information Services Division. As a key member of our Architecture team, you will report to the Chief Architect and apply your expertise in evaluating, planning, communicating, and supporting the implementation and release of solutions to meet critical business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply your in-depth knowledge of Cloud architectures, Microsoft M365, data architectures, development methodologies, and modern networking principles to ensure solutions are cohesive and align with the organization's technology standards.
  • Develop detailed designs and present them to gain acceptance and approvals from various IT and business disciplines and governing bodies.
  • Collaborate with other IS sections, such as security, networking, server/storage, system administration, data management, and others to develop scalable solutions.
  • Lead cloud initiatives and drive the development of innovative service offerings that enrich DOR's Cloud Services portfolio across multiple systems, platforms, and applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in information technology discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience working in the development and design of IT systems, including providing architectural guidance to developers/teams and working across multiple areas of software, hardware, data security, networking, and integration of diverse technology areas.
  • One (1) year information technology experience that demonstrates knowledge of solution planning and delivery.
  • Proven work experience as a cloud architect or expertise in cloud architecture with an understanding of implementation using MS Azure, AWS, and/or GCP.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or post-graduate work in computer science or related field to information technology.
  • Excellent knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends.
  • Relevant training and certifications as a Cloud Architect.
  • Develop repeatable cloud reference architecture based on DOR's needs.
  • Proficient in developing highly scalable data-centric application and web services architecture.
