The Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing the watercraft inspection program, ensuring the effective execution of strategies to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species. This position is responsible for managing a team of area supervisors and seasonal staff dedicated to safeguarding Montana's aquatic ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of watercraft inspection station supervisors, ensuring compliance with state regulations and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with human resources to manage staffing processes, including hiring, performance evaluations, and payroll administration.
- Oversee the timely completion of all necessary documentation related to fleet management, travel, and operational expenses.
- Work closely with station supervisors to identify and address equipment needs, maintenance, and repairs to ensure optimal station functionality.
- Facilitate training programs for area supervisors and inspectors to enhance operational capabilities and knowledge.
- Conduct evaluations of station operations to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions.
- Support data management initiatives and enhance the effectiveness of the WID mobile application.
- Engage in outreach efforts to promote awareness and education regarding aquatic invasive species.
- Prepare for rapid response actions in the event of new infestations, collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
Work Environment:
This role involves outdoor work, often in varying weather conditions, and may require extended hours in the field. Travel for meetings and training may also be necessary.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, Fish and Wildlife Management, Aquatic Ecology, or a related field, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in aquatic invasive species management or related areas. Strong supervisory, administrative, and communication skills are essential for success in this position.
