Float Pool Patient Services Coordinator

Position Overview:
The Float Patient Services Representative 1 is responsible for coordinating and engaging in various tasks related to the daily operational processes of the clinic, including patient identification, check-in procedures, charge posting, cash handling, and basic appointment scheduling.
As a vital member of the Float team, candidates should possess a passion for learning and supporting diverse departments within the organization, demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, and have dependable transportation.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
An Associate's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience may substitute for educational requirements - a minimum of three (3) years in an office or customer service setting is acceptable.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTSCompletion of a medical terminology course within one (1) year of commencing the position.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Prior experience in a public-facing role, basic computer proficiency, and familiarity with office equipment such as fax machines and copiers.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of a medical terminology course.
Reliable transportation is essential.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Excellent communication abilities; adherence to confidentiality standards; capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; strong memory for details; ability to prioritize and complete tasks under pressure; adaptability to change and decision-making in ambiguous situations.
Key Responsibilities:
Engage in a variety of tasks associated with the daily clinic operations, including: patient identification, check-in/out procedures, charge posting, cash management, appointment scheduling, patient registration, and account setup, as well as handling phone communications.
Acts as a role model by maintaining a professional demeanor.
Manages all incoming patient care requests related to in-basket activities, referrals, work queue tasks, and incoming calls.
Demonstrates proficiency with insurance coverage rules and eligibility criteria, including network coverage and benefits.
Completes mandatory insurance training and participates in ongoing competency refreshers.
Capable of initiating and securing prior authorizations as necessary.
The Float team is continuously expanding services across new departments, locations, and specialized services to support the community and organization, requiring staff to be adaptable and willing to train across multiple areas.
Float staff are expected to perform all department-specific functions within their role as required by the department they are assigned to.
Assists with coverage in various departments (gaining knowledge of each department's specifics and scheduling requirements)Travels to different departments as needed
Flexibility with last-minute assignment changes is required.
Working in a float capacity necessitates the ability to operate independently.
May be required to work weekends or holidays as necessary (this would be a minimum requirement and on a rotational basis)
May be asked to support temporary or pop-up departments as needed.
