Department Overview

The Electric Operations Training Team is an innovative group within PG&E Academy dedicated to aligning closely with Electric Operations to achieve the goal of establishing the safest and most reliable electric operating system in the industry. Our mission is to enhance employee safety and productivity through the design, development, and delivery of top-tier learning and on-the-job support solutions. Position Summary

This position involves joining a team of instructors responsible for delivering technical training in Electric Operations to PG&E's line worker workforce, including both apprentices and journeymen. The ideal candidate will ensure that PG&E Academy's technical training programs are executed with the utmost safety and performance standards, equipping all employees with the necessary competencies in accordance with PG&E's standards, procedures, and Instructor Excellence guidelines. As an instructor, you will engage in teaching, presenting, and observing students within the Electric Operations Department, contributing to the development of a premier Electric Operations Delivery Team.

Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday

Overtime: Available as needed based on training delivery and program requirements.

Compensation: The hourly rate for this position ranges from $54.80 to $87.50, reflecting the company's good faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on various factors, including skills, education, experience, and geographic location.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Coach, mentor, and develop team members to achieve both team and individual objectives while enhancing core competencies.
  2. Guide technical instructors in establishing expectations for best-in-class training delivery and work towards improving overall skill sets.
  3. Formulate and implement strategies to ensure timely, targeted, and budget-compliant execution of work.
  4. Address issues and risks presented by team members and stakeholders promptly and clearly.
  5. Build and maintain strong working relationships with line of business directors/managers, project managers, and team members to collaboratively identify training and performance needs, advising on aligned learning solutions.
  6. Collaborate with clients to gather feedback on courses and training materials, suggesting improvements and changes to the curriculum in partnership with Curriculum Development.
  7. Possibly lead the development of essential new tools, technologies, and techniques requiring cross-functional coordination.
  8. Plan and maintain scheduling in collaboration with operations partners to optimize instructor booking efficiency and quality, adhering to budgetary constraints and achieving learning solution goals.
  9. Provide technical leadership within the department.
  10. Work alongside Academy partners, including Curriculum Development, Professional Development, Operations, and eLearning, to assist in Academy projects and rollouts.
  11. Collaborate closely with Academy Management, line of business leadership, project managers, and curriculum development teams to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of PG&E learning solutions that meet organizational goals.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years of relevant experience in the respective technical trade (Journeyman level - Lineman)
  • Mastery of the skill set in which training will be delivered
  • Must obtain PG&E internal training certification within 12 months of starting the position

Desired:

  • 6 months of experience as a Technical Training Instructor
  • 2 years at Journeyman level in the respective technical trade (Lineman)
