Job Overview

The Electrical Training Specialist is responsible for delivering comprehensive educational programs in the electrical field, ensuring a conducive learning environment, and managing instructional materials, tools, and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective instruction and oversight for apprentices during both theoretical and practical training sessions.
  • Monitor apprentice behavior in the classroom to uphold established conduct standards.
  • Prepare, administer, evaluate, and submit assessments and performance records for apprentices.
  • Conduct evaluations of apprentices' classroom performance.
  • Assess apprentices' understanding to confirm they meet the necessary criteria for performance evaluations in accordance with NCCER regulations.
  • Manage all required documentation related to classroom activities.
  • Deliver training in alignment with NCCER standardized curriculum.
  • Develop and maintain specialized training labs, including:
    • Tracking and managing supplies, and preparing material requisitions for approval.
    • Reporting any damaged tools, equipment, or materials to the Training Director.
    • Creating hands-on training exercises and detailed procedures for apprentices.
  • Identify additional instructional needs for courses.
  • Arrange for guest speakers and industry professionals to enhance learning experiences.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, requiring apprentices to wear appropriate attire and personal protective equipment as necessary.
  • Participate in career fairs to assist in the recruitment of new apprentices.
  • A valid California Driver's License and vehicle insurance coverage are required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Skills: Demonstrated ability to present a professional image for the organization, serve as a role model for students, and exhibit strong leadership capabilities. Must possess independent judgment and discretion regarding student matters and privacy. A self-motivated team player who can work with minimal supervision and demonstrate creativity in developing instructional materials and projects. NCCER certification is advantageous.

Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Publisher), Adobe software, and Estimating/Scheduling applications.

Equipment Proficiency: Familiarity with standard office equipment operation, including copiers and fax machines.

Trade Expertise: In-depth knowledge of general construction practices, particularly at a journey level in the electrical trade. State certification as an electrician in California is mandatory for electrical instructors.

A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
