Job Summary

This is a critical role in the Wake Forest University athletic programs, responsible for managing various tasks and functions to ensure the success of events and daily operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various constituents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead facilities, operations, and event management in areas such as facilities management, event operations, external rentals, and other related responsibilities.
  • Supervise facilities management of McCreary Football Field House, Spry Stadium, Kentner Stadium, and the Wake Forest Tennis Center, coordinating gameday operations and long-term facility maintenance.
  • Work independently as the primary game manager for select sports, managing all event operational logistics, including serving as the visiting team liaison, coordinating travel logistics, and preparing operational guides and materials.
  • Ensure events and facility operations comply with relevant regulations, permits, and licenses, implementing safety protocols and emergency procedures as needed.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on event and facility operations to the Assistant Athletic Director of Event and Facility Operations.
  • Coordinate and communicate with necessary event support staff, including ball people, public address announcers, scoreboard operators, parking staff, security and police, student staff, medical services, and others.
  • In-game responsibilities include managing crowd control, facility and technology troubleshooting, upkeep of fields and courts, team and official liaison, support staff oversight, operation of scoreboards, clocks, sound equipment, metal detectors, and security implementation.
  • Support the Assistant Athletic Director and Assistant Directors of Athletic Event and Facility Operations with football, men's and women's basketball, and select event operations activities, including pre-event coordination, event operations, post-event breakdown, and logistics.
  • Serve as the primary department contact to assigned vendors and external partners.
  • Coordinate the upkeep and maintenance of facilities, ensuring playing fields and courts are prepared for team practices or games, including goals, nets, press boxes, restrooms, trash removal, electronics, speakers, and lights.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment inventory, oversee, and coordinate the maintenance and upkeep of department-owned and rented vehicles.
  • Attend all Event and Facility Operations staff and operational meetings.
  • Assist Event and Facility Operations staff and Senior Associate Athletic Director of Capital Projects and Operations with special projects, which may include research, meetings, written reports, and long-term planning projects.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to assess the success of events, identify areas for improvement, and gather feedback from clients and attendees, implementing changes based on evaluation findings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to perform medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • General knowledge of all ACC and NCAA competition guidelines related to game management
  • Ability to communicate with various constituents, including the general public, students, coaches, and administrators
  • Strong work ethic

  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office and Google applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one year of related experience
  • Sports management/business degree or coursework
  • Previous experience working within an intercollegiate athletic program
