- Respond to emergency calls, including traffic accidents and domestic disturbances.
- Make arrests, issue citations, and conduct investigations.
- Collect and preserve evidence, and testify in court as needed.
- Provide assistance to the public, including directing traffic and providing information.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Completion of Law Enforcement Officer training by the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.
- Possession of or ability to obtain required certifications, including handgun/firearm qualification and First Responder/CPR certification.
- Ability to meet Department hiring and retention requirements, including passage of written, medical, and psychological exams.
This position requires frequent contact with the public, including potentially hostile or violent individuals. You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, make quick decisions, and take authoritative action as situations demand. You will be required to wear protective gear and equipment, including a Kevlar vest, and work extended or irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
