Job Title: Quality Control Manager

Saturn Petcare, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Manager to join our team. As a key member of our quality assurance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality and food safety in our pet food products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement quality control strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality products or services.
  • Supervise, lead, and manage a team of quality control professionals, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Enforce conformance to implemented policies, operating procedures, quality systems, and programs that ensure proper testing, evaluation, inspection, and technical support to meet product safety and quality standards.
  • Establish and enforce key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of quality control processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as operations and customer service, to ensure quality control standards are integrated into all aspects of the organization.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify areas of non-compliance or opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze data and metrics related to quality control to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Research and Development team to ensure new products or processes meet quality standards before they are introduced to the market.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure compliance with quality control standards.
  • Participate in all third-party and customer audits and inspections, and corrective action response.
  • Act as a quality resource for operational issues, process improvement activities, new ingredient testing, and new product commissioning.
  • Conduct performance appraisals; provides feedback; and assists in setting goals and objectives.
Requirements:
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to effectively lead and develop a team.
  • At least 5-15 years of work experience as a quality control associate in food/beverage, with at least five years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Pet food experience is a plus.
  • BS or MS degree in Food Science or a related field (Meat Science, Biology, Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Chemistry, or Industrial Engineering).
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully implementing quality control strategies and driving continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in using quality control tools and software, such as statistical analysis software and quality management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP for Pet or human Food (21 CFR 507 or 113).
  • Ability to perform both internal and external quality and food safety audits.
  • Preferred: HACCP, PCQI, SQF, Allergen Control, Food Recall, and Root Cause Analysis trainings.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, Minitab, SAP, and a DMS program.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as standard operating procedures, work instructions, and policy guides, and other procedural manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to understand German language is a plus.
