Job SummaryIn alignment with Oregon's Measure 110, the aim of this position is to enhance support for individuals facing substance use challenges. The initiative seeks to foster equitable access to care for all communities, particularly those disproportionately affected by substance use disorders.
The Peer Support Specialist/Certified Recovery Mentor (PSS/CRM) will engage in outreach efforts, providing essential peer support to individuals seeking assistance with substance use issues. This role involves conducting nonclinical assessments and connecting individuals with appropriate resources based on their preferences.
Key Responsibilities- Provide empathetic peer support to individuals, drawing from personal recovery experiences.
- Assist individuals in defining and pursuing their unique recovery paths, incorporating harm-reduction strategies and educational resources.
- Collaborate with various community organizations to enhance service delivery.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all regulations regarding protected health information.
- Document interactions and maintain accurate records in compliance with relevant policies.
Expectations: We value cultural and spiritual diversity and are committed to social justice principles.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience: Candidates should have lived experience in recovery from addiction, with a minimum of two years of continuous recovery. Experience in supporting adults with addiction challenges is preferred.
Skills: Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal, are essential. Candidates should be adept at working independently and collaboratively within a team.
Additional InformationThis position is subject to a criminal background check as per MHAAO policy. A valid Oregon Driver's License and proof of automobile insurance are required.
