About the Role

A Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) is a vital member of our team, utilizing their direct or indirect experience of recovery from mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or significant trauma to deliver peer-based recovery support services. This role focuses on improving overall health and well-being, and quality of life for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient-Support (60%): Conduct patient engagement, assist patients in identifying barriers to achieving sustained recovery, assess patient progress, and educate on available community resources.
  • Community Resources & Continuing Education (20%): Maintain a working knowledge of services and resources, share resources with teammates, and participate in continuing education to advance the practice of peer-assisted recovery.
  • Administrative Responsibilities (20%): Prioritize self-and-mutual-care, attend supervision sessions, team meetings, and trainings, and regularly review patient status with other Care Team members.
Requirements
  • 1+ years experience navigating adjunctive opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment resources and referral processes with 2+ years working in peer support.
  • Peer certification in state of residence, where available, is required.
  • Certification as a National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) through NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, is expected within 9 months of hire.
  • Strong preference for individuals utilizing underrepresented pathways/modes of substance use and/or mental illness recovery, and those with direct experience of marginalization from systems of care for mental health and/or substance use recovery.
