Under the guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Parts Expediter is responsible for the procurement, receipt, storage, inventory management, and distribution of materials essential for equipment maintenance. This role includes the movement and handling of equipment and materials, as well as operating forklifts and other related machinery.

Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Facilitates and accelerates the movement of materials, parts, components, and assemblies within or between departments, adhering to production schedules and departmental priorities.
  • Utilizes the Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-A) as necessary to fulfill assigned responsibilities.
  • Conducts routine tasks daily in line with established protocols, receiving guidance for non-standard issues from supervisors.
  • Confirms the accuracy of incoming shipments by comparing received items and quantities against relevant documentation.
  • Inspects materials to ensure they meet specified requirements and checks for any damages.
  • Assesses the quantity of materials needed for specific tasks, applying knowledge of logistics support processes.
  • Ensures proper identification and routing of materials to various departments while maintaining accurate records of received goods.
  • Operates material handling equipment to transport materials as needed.
  • Employs computerized systems to generate reports on inventory levels and types of materials available.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Adapts to changes effectively and manages essential tasks as required.

MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Utilizes standard office equipment, including computers, printers, and calculators.
  • Steel-toed footwear and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are mandatory in designated areas.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work may be conducted in various environmental conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Flexibility to work unconventional hours, including nights and weekends, may be required.
  • Compliance with OSHA, EPA, and fire safety regulations is essential.
  • The standard work schedule consists of 40 hours per week.
  • Willingness to work additional hours as necessary to meet mission demands is expected.
  • Close visual acuity is necessary for tasks such as data analysis, transcribing, and inspection of materials.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Position requires standing, climbing, bending, and occasionally working in confined spaces.
  • Frequent lifting of items weighing up to 25 pounds, with occasional assistance for items up to 75 pounds.
Qualifications

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with standardized maintenance regulations, particularly DA Pam 750-8, is required.
  • Specific educational and experiential requirements may apply based on contractual obligations.
  • Proficiency in operating standard office equipment is necessary.
  • A valid state driver's license is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) is essential.

Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of GCSS-Army is essential.
  • Familiarity with basic office procedures and purchasing policies is expected.
  • Knowledge of local import/export and customs processes is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary.
  • Basic arithmetic, typing, and customer service skills are required.
  • Ability to complete routine tasks effectively, following established guidelines.
  • Collaborative skills to assist in moving parts to repair areas are important.
  • Capability to determine material requirements for specific tasks based on logistics knowledge.
  • Coordination with the local purchasing section to ensure valid orders and delivery timelines is essential.
  • Verification of delivered materials against specifications and inspection for damages is required.
