As a Parts Expediter, you will work under the guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor to manage the procurement, receipt, storage, inventory, and distribution of materials essential for equipment maintenance. This role requires the ability to handle materials efficiently, including loading and unloading, and operating equipment such as forklifts and other material-handling machinery.

Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Facilitates and accelerates the movement of materials, parts, components, and assemblies within or between departments, adhering to production and shipping timelines or departmental priorities.
  • Utilizes the Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-A) as necessary to fulfill assigned responsibilities.
  • Conducts routine daily tasks following established protocols, while receiving specific direction from supervisors for non-standard issues.
  • Confirms the accuracy of incoming shipments by comparing delivered items and quantities against relevant documentation.
  • Inspects materials to ensure they meet specified requirements and checks for any damages.
  • Assesses the quantity of materials needed for specific tasks, leveraging knowledge of logistics support processes.
  • Ensures proper identification of materials for routing to various departments and maintains accurate records of received goods.
  • Moves or transports materials using appropriate handling equipment.
  • Employs computerized systems to generate reports on inventory levels and types of materials available.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Demonstrates adaptability to change and effectively manages assigned tasks.

MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Utilizes personal computers, printers, calculators, fax machines, copy machines, and other standard office equipment.
  • Steel-toed footwear is mandatory. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas, including face masks and protective gear for head, feet, hands, vision, and hearing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work may occur in various environmental conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required.
  • Compliance with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations, and company policies is essential.
  • A standard work week consists of 40 hours (5 days).
  • Willingness to work additional hours as needed for mission requirements is expected.
  • Close visual acuity is necessary for tasks such as data analysis, transcribing, and inspecting materials.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position involves standing, climbing, bending, and occasionally working in confined spaces.
  • Employees are required to stand for extended periods.
  • Frequent lifting of items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasional assistance with heavier items up to 75 pounds is necessary.
Qualifications

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Familiarity with standardized maintenance regulations, particularly DA Pam 750-8, is necessary.
  • Specific contractual education and experience requirements may apply.
  • Proficiency in operating standard office equipment, including computers and printers, is essential.
  • A valid state driver's license is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) is necessary.

Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of GCSS-Army is essential.
  • Familiarity with basic office procedures, purchasing policies, and software applications is necessary.
  • Knowledge of local import/export and customs processes is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are required.
  • Basic arithmetic, typing, and customer service skills are essential.
  • Ability to complete routine tasks according to established guidelines while receiving direction for non-standard issues.
  • Capability to collaborate with team leads to move parts to repair areas.
  • Assessing material needs for specific tasks based on logistics support knowledge is required.
  • Coordination with the local purchasing section to ensure valid orders and delivery timelines is necessary.
  • Verification of delivered materials against specifications and inspection for damages is essential.
