Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Logistics Intern to join our team at CRH. As a Logistics Intern, you will have the opportunity to work with a vertically integrated company and gain experience in transportation requirements, logistics management, and other lines of business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless logistics operations.
  • Advise the dispatch team on customer specialty needs and ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Enter sales orders and maintain accurate records in our software system.
  • Manage kiosk cards for carrier fleet and create demand orders for loads to be delivered to HMA plants and emulsion customers.
  • Assist in ordering PPE for central division contract carriers and trailer maintenance and repairs.
  • Participate in daily updates and reviews with the dispatch team and assist terminal managers as needed.
  • Gather operational rules and regulations from each terminal and distribute to carrier fleet.
  • Monitor new driver training for loading and unloading and meet with key personnel at HMA plants and other customer locations as needed.
  • Review broker loads for ticket verification and reconciliation and assist terminal manager in ticket disruption diagnoses.
  • Assist drivers and managers with Hours of Service to maximize operational needs and assist in carrier recruiting and retention.
Requirements
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to colleagues, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
  • Adhere to Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
  • Be willing to work in a team environment and assist colleagues or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Attend work regularly and be punctual.
Qualifications
  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university and working towards an Associate or Bachelor's degree in Logistics or other industry-related degree program.
  • Ability to read English language sufficiently to read information contained in specifications, reports, manuals, and regulations.
  • Ability to perform intermediate mathematical skills, including basic algebra, geometry, and shop math.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly work near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and will be regularly exposed to wet, humid conditions, airborne particles, and extreme heat or cold.

The employee will frequently be exposed to vibration, dust, irritants, chemicals, and noise.

The noise level in the work environment will frequently be very loud and may require protective equipment.
