As a Parts Expediter, you will work under the guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor to procure, receive, store, and distribute essential materials for equipment maintenance. This role involves the movement and handling of materials, including the operation of forklifts and other machinery.
Key ResponsibilitiesPRIMARY DUTIES:
- Facilitates the movement of materials, parts, and components within departments, aligning with production schedules and departmental priorities.
- Utilizes the Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-A) to execute assigned tasks effectively.
- Performs routine operations in accordance with established protocols, seeking guidance for non-standard issues.
- Confirms the accuracy of incoming shipments by cross-referencing items against delivery documents.
- Inspects materials to ensure compliance with specifications and checks for any damages.
- Assesses material requirements for specific tasks, applying logistics knowledge.
- Ensures proper identification and routing of materials within the organization while maintaining accurate records.
- Operates material handling equipment to transport goods as necessary.
- Employs computerized systems to generate reports on inventory levels.
- Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned to achieve departmental objectives.
- Adapts to changes in a productive manner and manages essential tasks as required.
Equipment and Tools Used:
- Personal computer, printer, calculator, fax machine, copier, and other standard office equipment.
- Steel-toed footwear and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are mandatory in designated areas.
Work Environment:
- Work may be conducted in both indoor and outdoor settings, subject to varying environmental conditions.
- Flexibility in work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be necessary.
- Compliance with OSHA, EPA, and fire safety regulations is required.
- A standard work week consists of 40 hours across five days.
- Willingness to work additional hours based on mission requirements is essential.
- Close visual acuity is necessary for tasks such as data analysis, inspection, and operation of machinery.
Physical Requirements:
- Position involves standing, climbing, and bending, with occasional work in confined spaces.
- Ability to stand for extended periods is required.
- Regular lifting of items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasional assistance with heavier items (up to 75 pounds) is expected.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Familiarity with maintenance regulations, particularly DA Pam 750-8, is preferred.
- Specific educational and experiential requirements may apply based on contractual obligations.
- Proficiency in standard office equipment operation is necessary.
- A valid state driver's license is required.
- Capability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) is essential.
Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.
- Knowledge of GCSS-Army is essential.
- Understanding of basic office procedures and purchasing policies is necessary.
- Familiarity with local import/export and customs processes is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are crucial.
- Basic arithmetic, typing, and customer service skills are expected.
- Ability to perform routine tasks in accordance with established guidelines while seeking guidance for complex issues.
- Collaboration with team leads to facilitate parts movement to repair areas is necessary.
- Assessment of material needs for specific tasks, utilizing logistics knowledge, is required.
- Coordination with local purchasing to ensure valid orders and delivery timelines is essential.
- Verification of delivered materials against specifications and inspection for damages is expected.
