Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DFA Director of Finance to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our Division of Finance and Administration, you will be responsible for leading the financial operations of the division, including developing and maintaining an all-funds consolidated budget, managing sources, and reporting on budget versus actuals.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain an all-funds consolidated budget, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Manage sources, including forecasting, variance analysis, and project accounting for Facilities Management projects.
  • Provide fiscal leadership and guidance to all units across the division, ensuring effective financial performance.
  • Establish operational objectives and work plans, delegating assignments to subordinate staff and reviewing progress.
  • Manage the activities of the financial analyst staff, reviewing and approving recommendations for financial planning and control.
  • Direct activities that ensure division and department adherence to approved budget, developing and executing policies that affect immediate operations and organization-wide effects.
Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of financial policies, practices, and systems, including budgeting and reporting techniques, fund accounting, human resource planning, accounting, and bookkeeping.
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, with demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels.
  • Client services oriented, with good listening, critical thinking, and analytical skills, and ability to multi-task and evaluate processes to establish and maintain strong internal control elements.
  • Thorough knowledge of Government Accounting Principles, finance, accounting, business, and systems operations, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Excellent skills in use of spreadsheet and database software, with ability to evaluate processes to establish and maintain strong internal control elements and appropriate accountability structures.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 10 years of experience, including 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Professional certification preferred.
