Position Overview

The selected candidate will oversee the management of weapon systems utilizing effective product lifecycle management techniques, ensuring comprehensive support for all tiers of naval aviation maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate coordination with essential personnel to address challenges associated with the operational fleet, particularly in maintenance and readiness management.
  • Establish a formalized approach for collecting sustainment IT functional requirements from weapon system program offices.
  • Enhance logistics forecasting and analytical methodologies, tools, databases, and processes.
Employment Conditions

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and deemed suitable for federal employment. Participation in the direct deposit pay program is mandatory. New hires within the Department of the Navy must successfully complete the E-Verify employment verification process.

Current federal employees applying for GS positions must have served at least one year at the next lower grade level, meeting time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Retired military members seeking civilian positions within 180 days of retirement are subject to specific provisions under 5 United States Code 3326. Male applicants born after a certain date must be registered for Selective Service.

It is essential to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to commencing duties. Failure to secure the necessary clearance may lead to withdrawal of a job offer or termination.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-3 grade level in federal service or comparable experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience should include:

  1. Expertise in logistics and operational data information systems to quantify factors affecting fleet readiness and operating/support costs.
  2. In-depth understanding of aviation logistics IT support systems and the ability to extract meaningful data for performance measurement.
  3. Experience in structuring, planning, assigning, and evaluating task accomplishments.
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of analytical methods related to weapon systems and subsystems, including their interactions and implications for program readiness and costs.
  5. A thorough grasp of the interrelationships between logistics requirements and other professional disciplines (e.g., program management, logistics, engineering, contracting) to resolve complex issues and provide decision-makers with viable alternatives to enhance readiness.
