We are seeking a skilled RF Engineer to contribute to our operations at a prominent naval facility. The selected candidate will assist in acquisition programs by facilitating the equipment spectrum certification process, which is essential for the lawful operation of spectrum-dependent systems. This role involves the creation of Spectrum Supportability Risk Assessments (SSRA), the development of certification packages utilizing NTIA software tools, and collaboration with various spectrum management entities.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties:
  • Conduct and document Spectrum Supportability Risk Assessments (SSRA) for Department of Defense acquisition initiatives at various development phases.
  • Utilize multiple spectrum and frequency allocation databases to gather information on relevant systems and apply findings to diverse platforms.
  • Analyze and assess the characteristics and performance criteria of spectrum-dependent systems and equipment.
  • Evaluate the intended application of equipment to ensure compliance with applicable spectrum standards as outlined in the NTIA Manual. Prepare and submit spectrum certification requests for review.
Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related STEM field.
  • Clearance Requirement:
    • Active U.S. Department of Defense SECRET Security Clearance.
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience in RF engineering related to DoD spectrum-dependent systems or Navy/Joint Operational Spectrum Management.
    • Familiarity with EMI, EMC criteria, and engineering practices for operational spectrum coordination.
    • Hands-on experience with communications, combat systems, electronic warfare systems, and navigation aids, with the ability to analyze RF compatibility and develop frequency plans.
    • Experience in conducting EMI/EMC evaluations and engineering analyses to identify and resolve spectrum-related issues.
    • Expertise in creating and updating spectrum documentation, operational publications, and briefings related to spectrum usage.
  • Specific Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years in:
      • Testing and evaluating Spectrum Dependent Systems.
      • RF System Capabilities Analysis.
      • Systems Integration.
      • Spectrum Policy.
      • General RF and electronic technology.
      • EMI, EMC, RF Engineering, or Spectrum Management.
  • Desired Experience:
    • Experience in developing spectrum certification in accordance with the NTIA Manual, particularly for airborne platforms.
    • Knowledge of systems operating in the MHz frequency band, including IFF interrogators and transponders.
  • Skills:
    • Expertise in Equipment Spectrum Certification and National Spectrum Policies.
    • Proficient in RF analysis and report generation.
    • Familiarity with EL-CID, EL-CID Online, HNSWDO, GEMSIS, and Spectrum SXXI.
