Position Summary: We are in search of a skilled, driven, and innovative scientist to become a part of our Functional Genomics Group. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Functional Genomics, the selected candidate will play a crucial role in the design, execution, and analysis of CRISPR-based gene editing screens aimed at exploring novel oncology targets. Additionally, they will conduct mechanistic studies to characterize these targets and assess the effects of various mutations on their functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement CRISPR-based mutagenesis screens utilizing cutting-edge technologies.
  • Conduct target and site validation studies in disease-relevant preclinical models.
  • Innovate new CRISPR screening formats and develop novel cell-based assays.
  • Remain informed on current literature and engage with academic experts.
  • Collaborate closely with computational biology teams for the design and analysis of CRISPR screens.
  • Primarily focus on laboratory-based responsibilities.
  • Regularly present findings at team meetings.
  • Maintain thorough and timely documentation of experiments and processes.
  • Effectively communicate scientific findings and strategies in internal meetings and prepare comprehensive reports of data and literature analyses.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in a biological science.
  • Expertise in mammalian cell line culture, particularly for large-scale projects.
  • Proficient in standard molecular biology techniques, including RNA and DNA preparation, protein analysis via immunoprecipitation and western blotting, and mammalian cell line transfection.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and develop new workflows.
  • Exceptional technical laboratory skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in documenting, executing, and analyzing experiments.
  • Willingness to embrace new tasks and challenges while meeting demanding timelines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with large-scale functional genomics experiments, including CRISPR-Cas9 mutagenesis screens.
  • Familiarity with lentivirus production, infection, and selection processes.
  • Experience in constructing next-generation sequencing libraries.
  • Proficiency with advanced instrumentation such as plate readers, flow cytometers, IncuCyte, and epifluorescence microscopes.
  • Knowledge of electronic notebook platforms like Benchlings.

Compensation: We provide a competitive total compensation package and foster a supportive team environment. The anticipated salary range for candidates is between $98,000 and $140,000, with the final salary determined by various factors including experience and education.
